If you’re looking for a mountain bike under $1000, the Diamondback Atroz 2 is one of the best bicycles you can buy. Its amazing features make riding on various terrains a pleasure.
Great value for the money. For under $1000, the Diamondback Atroz 2 has fantastic features that make it one of the best mountain bikes at its price point.
The bike has a sturdy aluminum frame.
Simple 1 x 9-speed drivetrain that offers riders a great choice of gears for different terrain.
Climbing is more difficult than it needs to be with the high biased gearing.
It doesn’t perform well on rocky terrain.
Before the Diamondback Atroz 2 came along, getting a quality mountain bike with full-suspension at under $1000 was unthinkable. Bikes with full-suspension make cycling more comfortable and give you better control. In the past, to get a full-suspension mountain bike, you had to pay thousands of dollars.
Apart from the full-suspension other features that make the Atroz 2 a steal for its price include Shimano hydraulic disc brakes for precision stopping. Shimano Acera 1 x 9-speed shifters which give you a good choice of gears, 2.35 inch Vee Flow Snap tires which offer excellent grip, and sealed cartridge bearings that make riding the Diamondback Atroz 2 very smooth.
The bike is available in 3 sizes, small, medium, and large.
The Diamondback Atroz 2 is a heavy bike weighing 33.4 lbs. Its weight will affect how fast you can go, particularly when going uphill.
Like most other low priced bikes, the seat may feel uncomfortable, so you might have to change it or add cushion to make long runs bearable.
On the positive side, the bike's full-suspension will allow you to tackle challenging terrain easily. A chain keeper also helps secure the bike’s chain so your pedaling won’t be interrupted on rough roads.
The bikes hydraulic brakes also come in handy should you need to stop as you ride instantly. One finger on the brakes is all you need to bring you to an immediate stop.
The Shimano 9 speed gears quickly and easily change, allowing you to keep your momentum as you switch terrain. Also, I love the fact that you don’t have to look down at the bike cassette to know which gear you’re on.
A quick look at the gear Indicator located on the bike’s handle bar will help you keep track of gears.
Mountain bikes can be costly, and if you're a novice rider investing in a bike that will leave you broke might not be an option. That's why the Diamondback Atroz 2, which goes for less than a grand, should be at the top of your list of mountain bikes to consider buying.
The bike has a beautiful design and comes with amazing features that make it trail-ready. So, we highly recommend it as your first mountain bike.
